Another in a series of paintings from Arthur Sterns book. "How To See Color and Paint it"

This is a handkerchef of my late grandpa's. Hung in the corner of a box.

Red paper lined the left, blue on the right and yellow on the floor.

I realize these are for learning, and some of them are very crude looking. I am enjoying these so much

that I have to share. Each and every exercise that I complete is a total learning experience.

They are all done with a palette knife, and painted in 3 sessions.

Shopping trip to Costco and brought home some beautiful sunflowers to paint.

These were so much fun to paint after doing landscapes with so much green.

Buffalo

Went to Wyoming last year, spent a week painting with Gil Dillinger, and Jean LeGassick.

Driving around , we saw a whole herd of buffalo come down a hill, and cross the road in front of us.

It was so incredible. We spent a couple hours just watching them.

At the end of the group, came the big males, and they were definitely in charge.

They were grunting and setting the pace.

below is a photo taken of same site where I painted. This is a good case for why you don't use photos to paint.

As you can see, the photo only picks up a smidgeon of the colors that you can see with your eyes.

I put the path in, artists prerogative to do, as there was too much green for my taste.

squares, to get an accurate drawing to paint. Changed the background, to keep the focus on the car. It is a special car.
